The 6th  National Filtration Conference Held at Isfahan Science and Technology Town: Emphasis on Proper Filtration in Petrochemical Industries

The 6th National Filtration Conference, focusing on “Filtration in Petrochemical Industries,” was hosted by Isfahan Science and Technology Town (ISTT) in collaboration with the Persian Gulf Holding on April 20–21, 2025, at the Soroush Auditorium. The two-day event brought together senior officials, industry leaders, experts, and researchers in the fields of energy and filtration, featuring keynote speeches, B2B meetings, side exhibitions, specialized workshops, and research paper presentations.

Key topics addressed during the conference included system optimization and upgrading, economic analysis, environmental pollutant and waste management, quality control in product design, data simulation and analysis, and the role of artificial intelligence in filtration. In addition, three specialized panels explored air filter optimization in industries, the design of next-generation advanced all-metal filters, and the localization of filtration technologies in Iran.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Seyed Mehdi Abtahi, President of ISTT, highlighted the engineering solutions available to tackle air pollution challenges in Isfahan, stressing that such conferences pave the way for industrial advancement and global market entry.

Conference Executive Secretary Mohammad Ebrahimi emphasized the urgent need for energy management and pollutant control in Iran’s industries. Supporting this view, Mohammad Asadnejad, Deputy Director of Technical Production at the Thermal Power Generation Company, noted that “a one-megawatt increase in electricity generation through proper filtration can supply power to about 1,000 rural households.”

Ebrahim Mohseni, CEO of Isfahan Gas Company, warned that improper filtration causes irreparable damage to industrial systems, underscoring the strategic importance of ISTT’s specialized filtration laboratory as a national asset. He explained that even a one percent improvement in filtration efficiency could significantly reduce energy imbalances and industrial losses.

Mojtaba Saadatpour, Conference Chair and Head of ISTT’s Filtration Laboratory, further stressed that the use of substandard filters can impose heavy costs on production systems. He noted that quality assessment of filters is only possible through certified laboratories, which is why ISTT established its specialized filtration center to ensure quality and reduce evaluation costs.

The 6th National Filtration Conference reaffirmed the critical role of proper and standardized filtration in petrochemical and energy industries, while providing a platform for scientific collaboration, industrial partnerships, and the transfer of technical knowledge.
